Long Island Woman Killed After Being Hit By Mercedes-Benz Driven By Husband, Police Say

A Long Island woman walking home was killed after she was struck by a Mercedes-Benz driven by her husband, who was backing out of the driveway, police say.

It happened at about 7:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2 in Fort Salonga, Suffolk County Police said.

After walking her grandchild to the bus stop, Nancy Richard, 79,  was returning to her home on Concord Drive when she was struck by a 2015 Mercedes S550, driven by her husband, Peter Richard, who was backing out of their driveway, according to police.

Nancy Richard was transported to Huntington Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Peter Richard, 83, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
